I founded momi ishq to offer unique jewellery that would last, after becoming frustrated with spending my hard-earned money on jewellery that would quickly rust and decay. Like many of us, I had experienced the disappointment of wearing a new piece of jewellery only to find that it had turned my skin green by the end of the day, despite my efforts to remove it before washing my hands.
Then I discovered PVD gold-filled jewellery and was amazed by its durability. I have been wearing the same pieces for years, and people are always surprised when I tell them that it's not real gold. The marine-grade stainless steel base makes it hypoallergenic and resistant to erosion. Unlike other metals, stainless steel forms a thin, stable film that prevents oxidation, so the gold is electroplated in layers for maximum durability. It's life-proof, meaning you can wear it in the bath, at the beach, or in the gym.
I started momi ishq six months ago as a creative outlet from my corporate job and have found great success through pop-up events, which have validated the quality of my designs. Based on customer feedback, I have started a men's line and also introduced some silver pieces.
My branding vision was to represent what I want to see: diversity in shapes and skin tones, celebrating underrepresented cultures, and the beauty in the natural world. Adorning oneself is a practice as old as time itself, from the ancient Egyptians and their extravagant gold to the flamboyant feathers and dances in the animal kingdom to garner attention. The pieces we wear make us uniquely ourselves.
The name momi ishq combines my nickname, Momi, with the word Ishq, which means love, desire, and passion in both Arabic and Hindi. I hope you find a piece at momi ishq that ignites those same feelings in you
